Moon Jellies
Adventure Day: Monterey Bay Aquarium! The rhythms of the jellyfish move me to tears. I try to match my breath to their pulsing. I want to roll my shoulders, sway in the thick air. I want to dance.
This isn't a reflection, but two magnificent creatures gently touching.
We see so many astonishing shapes and colors, such grace. A ballet of thousands of sardines, the round mass of them swerving, reversing direction, moving as one. Kids' tour groups run through the exhibits, high on being out of school, shouting, barely noticing. Old folks stand stock still in wonder, mouths agape, hearts fluttering.
The Extra is a Pharaoh Cuttlefish.
