Desperately seeking

A Bit More Snow

Even with the snow this morning the roads from the village were clear. I had to go to town to do some preparatory shopping for our holiday.

Before coming home I went to the studio where The Mate was waiting for someone to come to use our shelves. Yes, we have 3 shelves people can use for a little while. They only about 2" deep but they're 8' long. What use are they?

The gentleman interested in using our shelves was preparing to apply for Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society. In doing this you need, not only to have excellent images but, must also submit a "hanging plan" (which is actually a standing plan as prints are viewed on racks)

The big thing about doing LRPS (or any of the society's distinctions) is that your set must form a cohesive panel. That's why we created these shelves but now they add to our display space.

So, the gentleman came with his 10 images and his spares and was delighted to be able to stand back and see how each image related to the rest. (You can fail if the judges don't like your arrangement in 1, 2 or 3 rows.) We encouraged him to consider using one of his substitutes and swap around his images.

We had been reluctant to comment, he needed to be happy with his own choice, but he encouraged us to and appreciated our critique and, in any case, he will be attending an official Advisory Day where he will get expert advice.
