Yes!

Son J took and passed his driving test 4 weeks and 4 days after his 17th birthday. A week after his birthday, he booked the first available test and thus had to wait so long!

I have looked up what the current - February 2018 - costs are:

Apparently, the average hourly rate is £24.
The UK Driving Standards Authority recommends 47 hours = £1,128
plus 22 hours of private practice given by family/friends.

Well done J, but given you started driving a motor vehicle at about 2 years of age, disappointing you needed so many hours!

Have just corresponded with J who sent me a copy of his current licence which expires on 01.02.2054. Typical, he will do anything not to drive if alcohol is available and it's my 100th birthday party on 01.09.2054.

PS On the map the driving test centre doesn't appear. I suspect he demolished it as he drove out with the scrap of paper in his hand. The nearest test centre is Lancing nowadays.
