Fun in the Snow

This field - 'Long Meadow' - is just along the road from Maison MD and as soon as the first few flakes of snow fall, it becomes a magnet for local children.
Unfortunately the sun soon melted much of the snow - but more is forecasted.

Whilst sorting some old 'archive' photographs, I came across this one (extra) taken during the Winter Snow of 1947 on the hill tops above Hebden Bridge.  . No 4 wheel drives then, just 4 hooves.  Note the involvement of the local constabulary - helping to get supplies through. 
Also note no Hi-Viz vests - how did they survive?? 
Times have changed....!
