proper post: a rarity, a real fountain penned letter from my Uncle Clive (90) who used to farm in the UK but emigrated to Australia.  i sent him a copy of Farmer’s Glory by A G Street for christmas.

last night we thought we'd hunted down the rogue appliance to coffee machine or kettle.  this morning i think i may have stumbled upon the true culprit, the tumble drier.  further tests necessary!

a little reading update:  The Peregrine is wonderful - an enchanting mix of observation and beautiful poetic prose - i highly recommend it.
