Siskin

Spinus spinus, the black headed Goldfinch, has started to visit our feeders in larger numbers, vying with real gold finches (See extra) and green finches for the available spaces at the feeders.

We bought two new feeders from the RSPB, which you can take apart to wash when they get manky. Unfortunately, the day after they were put up one of the removable foot pegs on one of them has disappeared! We think a magpie has pinched it, because it's shiny. A bigger enigma is how we will replace it? (I feel a email to the RSPB coming on)
