Headed out on my bike in the cold and the sun - decided to go and ride up The Granites and then down to Heriot with a wee cafe stop at Humbie. Pressed on after that to Haddington and added in a bit extra to the east which meant that by the time I got home I'd ridden 140km, my longest ever ride. If I'd had my lights with me, I might have gone for the 100 miles, but it was getting pretty gloomy as it was by the time I got back from my 87 mile day out. Even had the legs afterwards to walk to the corner shop for some beer to go with tonight's curry ;-)
Another gig anniversary today. Twenty nine years ago to the day I went to the first gig I'd ever been to by myself - My Bloody Valentine at Sheffield University. And the reason that I went by myself was that I'd seen them six months previously (also at the university) with a bunch of friends and they'd all hated them. Consequently, this time round...no takers! I was on the guestlist because I was reviewing it for the student paper and I remember being pleased as owt when it got published the week after - I was nineteen, I read the NME, it contained more puns and obscure references than was good for itself, or me for that matter.
