Bathurst Blip Meet

Crikey, what a day we’ve had today. CCN, the 3 Amigos and I headed off after Brekkie to visit 59 in the historic town of Bathurst. We had a leisurely drive through the countryside and the boys really enjoyed themselves.

When we arrived at 59’s we were given a wonderful welcome, particularly from Tom, 59’s charming black and white terrier. It was almost lunchtime and 59 had a real treat in store for us all. We found ourselves in the most charming cafe and lo and behold a spectacular kitchen and gift shop. Make no mistake, this will be on our list to visit whenever we go to Bathurst. I have added an extra of the “3 Amigos” playing hide n seek amongst the amazing range of kitchenware.

Once 59 and CCN had managed to drag me out of the kitchen department we headed up to Mount Panorama where the famous Bathurst 1000 Motor race is held every October. Thousands of petrol heads converge on the mountain for this iconic race. We had the thrill of taking Poll Position before doing a lap of the entire circuit. It was a quite a thrill and I had to really stop myself from putting my foot to the floor!!

Then it was off to meet 59’s daughter and grandson and new addition to the family “Woofo” and absolutely adorable Jack Russell puppy. I think this may well have been the highlight of the day for Kelso, Rowan and Trigger :)

After tracking down the Trinity Church in Kelso (see 59’s post tonight) CCN, the boys and I said farewell to 59 and headed home to Blackheath. We had one more surprise in store for our charming visitors. We noticed on the outskirts of Bathurst that Sue and George had their “Figs for Sale” sign up on the highway so we took a quick detour to call in a buy some fresh figs from the very welcoming Italian orchardists. I have added an extra of the troops tasting figs for the very first time. Well that’s what they told us anyway :)

All in all it was a wonderful day for all of us and we’re about to head for bed now in the sobering knowledge that we will be packing our very obliging visitors off to our blip buddy “NewcastleDownunder” - Jen in just over 24 hours. We can’t bear to think about this as CCN and I dread the thought of saying farewell to blippers and in particular these three beautiful creatures.
