Tales from the Poop Deck

Titter ye not! I know the poop deck is nothing to do with toilets. Its French/Latin for the stern of a ship.

This is on board the Glenlee, the tall ship at the Riverside museum in Glasgow. These are the crew and captains heads (aaarrr, sea dog word for toilet) compared side by side. As you can see rank has it's privileges when it comes to this side of life on board.

I'm sure in it's day the crew one at least would have been a rather more foul place to be up in the bows, middle of the night in a South Atlantic storm. Almost on topic for weekly theme of FOUL.
