East Coast Beach hopping
We left our cottage about 10am, and walked up along the headland looking back to Eyemouth. We passed the campsite, and a lady and her dog were outside. I'd met them on the beach one morning, though I only recognised her big black lab. People with woolly hats on tend to look the same. (How did she recognise me? Ah, yes - my shiner.) She advised me to go and complain to the Co-op's manager, which I did. The more people who fall over and complain about the potholes, the better.
We then drove down to Pease Bay, but didn’t bother stopping. It looked like a private caravan site, with big barriers. On to the next beach - Dunbar, only we missed the turnoff. Twice. But what a grand sight it is to come across Tantallon Castle and the Bass Rock looking spectacular in the sunshine. I really should have stopped for a photo.
We then stopped at North Berwick. Actually, we stopped a couple of times when Archie was about to be sick, and the third time we couldn’t stop, but I was ready beside him with the poo bag. Poor wee chap.
However, once he sees a beach, he's happy. Look at him jumping for the seaweed at North Berwick. JR took him right along the NB east beach while I sat on a bench. They were miles away - wee dots, when I blew my whistle. Archie heard it immediately, and took off running back to me. I wave my arms so that he can spot where I am amongst the people on the beach. Then he ran back to JR, and back to me. He was fair puggled. We also stopped in at our favourite dog friendly cafe there - Steampunk - where we had excellent coffees and nibbles. JR had a red onion, mozzarella and olive 'muffin'. I had a slice of banana bread with chocolate and nuts. Yum yum.
On to the next beach - Porty. It was such a lovely day we stopped again. I had a coffee and Archie had a liver muffin. We saw three schnauzers, one a very pretty fluffy, clean almost white wee female. Archie, not looking his manicured best, looked like a real ruffian next to her dainty coiffed self.
Now we’re home. Car's washed, Archie's bathed and sitting in front of the roaring fire. What a great holiday we had - brilliant weather - but it's always nice to be home.
NO fish'n'chips tonght.
