Diary of an Edinburgher

St Andrews!

Another fab day in Fife. Though that nippy wind was back, it was sunny and ideal for a drive north to St Andrews. My parents started married life there after the war, so I'm very fond of the town.

Archie wasn't sick though it was a bendy, bouncy road, but he was very glad to reach the West Sands and have a run around. He's never seen such a lot of beach! And hardly anybody else there! He ran and ran and chased sticks (though he never brings them back).

Actually, there were a few other folk braving the biting wind enjoying the fresh air. And one of them called out 'Hello!' She was an ex-colleague of JR's!

We then parked and had a wander round town, searching for a dog friendly cafe. There doesn't appear to be any in St Andrews, unlike Anstruther. We eventually sat outside one cafe, fortunately we were in the sun and sheltered from the brisk sea breeze. And we had the best scone!

JR had a wander round the shops, while Archie and I went back to the car. Before we left town, we stopped off at the ruins of the cathedral. It's a spectacular area, built in 1158. Check out the fab tree in extras.

Home mainly on motorways, but a few roundabouts as we left St Andrews proved too much for poor wee Archie, who was sick. He was glad to get home, but he had a super holiday. We all did.

But yes, it's nice to be back home...
