Winter fields

There was some snow last night so when we awoke this morning there was a fair covering, even at canal level. My extra shows the very start (or end) of the Caledonian Canal with snow covered Ben Wyvis behind.

We had to pack up to leave Otter Cottage after a last walk at the canal. Cameraman had some buying and selling business to do at Ffordes Photographic in Beauly. While he was looking at cameras and camera accessories I had a wee wander around in the snow. The main is the field behind Ffordes which I think must be a pretty good view from the window.

From Beauly we went to Drumnadrochit where Lyn studied, lived and worked for some 4.5 years after she left school. Despite the Nessie-ness of Drum we are very fond of it and for old times sake had lunch in the Benleva Hotel where we have spent many a happy evening. We then headed to the lovely gardens at Abriachan and spent an hour or so looking at all the work that’s been done since we were last there. There were snowdrops, crocus, hellebores and witch hazel in flower and a lot more to come in the next few weeks. Beautiful views down the Loch.

Then it was time for the slog down the A9. Lots of roadworks, lorries, gritters (good) and the usual impatient drivers but we got back safely and we’re identifying another couple of nights to book Otter Cottage again.
