White Tiger
Our hosts set off mid morning for the tourist attraction, Cradle of Mankind Maropeng (nr Jo'Berg) which is a World Heritage Site. Its complex of fossil-bearing caves contains a superbly preserved record of the stages in the evolution of humankind over the past 4-million years. It's the world's richest early hominin site and is home to around 40% of the world's known human-ancestor fossils.
On the way there we stopped at The Lion and Rhino reserve, Kromdraai, Krugersdorp, and I got the photo of the white tiger........literally inches from its face as my camera touched the wire fence!
This is one poem I remember from school some 45 years ago!
Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry? William Blake (1794)
