In fairness the construction workers were very polite, and stopped work and walked me through the obstruction when I challenged them. but there was already one elderly pedestrian standing there slightly bewildered as to how he was to get past, and until I got involved no-one seemed bothered about his predicament. This is life in a quiet country village in the twenty first century.
