trying a different approach...

Spent a lot of time today painting (see extra) which i start by using a brayer!   I love the process but i'm realising it kinda traps me within a kind of blocky composition....sometimes i love this.....but this one has me stumped!  so i'm at that stage where i think i'll just fix (by applying alcohol)  the whole thing (20" x 28") apply a bunch of mediums on top then go at it again.....but thought i'd turn my sights to something different.....then go back to it later!   but wanted to keep going!

Half sheet of paper here....with the image on my tablet as a source of some gestures...not intending to 'copy' the image, just using it as a starting off point!   some charcoal and pastel then brushed with smelly stuff!   now to let that dry....time for exercises and a nap!

snowed most of the day so happy to be inside and not needing to go anywhere!

added 2nd extra just now.....applied sumi ink and transparent gesso.....now it is time for a nap while this dries!!!
