Weymouth Bay (1816)

Constable was famous for his accurate painting of clouds and their relation to weather conditions. A wonderful exibition of many of his studies came to Edinburgh in October 2000.

He would have had little trouble with the skies today - uniform, mid-grey, which would indicate persistent rain.
