Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2018 Tuesday — Wildlife on the Beach

Late this afternoon we put leashes on the three pups, put them in their places in the backseat of the car, stopped at the post office to mail a birthday card to our friend Annie, and them parked in the pier parking lot and walked for quite a long way on the sand. These three absolutely love walking on the sand.

When I captured this photo, I was holding all three leashes because Mr. Fun was talking on the phone to his 95-year-old mom. She called because she had fallen on the carpeted floor while trying to get seated in her sofa chair. She was holding onto her walker and lost her balance.

She was not hurt, but she can no longer get up when she’s fallen to the floor. This is the third time in a month that she has fallen. Mr. Fun was able to get in touch with her caregiver, Monica, and Monica went to the house and got her off the floor. His mom needs to be in assisted living or she needs a full time caregiver, but she absolutely refuses either of those suggestions/solutions. She is extremely stubborn, very belligerent, bossy, and rude. She turns the TV volume as high as it will go and still can’t hear it. She refuses hearing aids. She can no longer see well enough to read. The entire scenario is just dreadful.

We know that she is having more and more moments of dementia. So, we’re walking on the sand and Mr. Fun is listening on his phone as his very frail, very weak mother explains that she’s on the floor. We are a 4-hour-drive to where she is.

That’s a recap of our afternoon,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
