Ninekirks
After lunch we decided a walk was called for. Not having been for several decades we headed for Ninekirks, which I gather if more formally known as St Ninian's Brougham. We had forgotten just how far across the fields it is, there can't be many churches which are a mile from the nearest road.
The church has an interesting history and remains virtually as it was in 1658- 60 when Lady Anne Clifford had it refurbished/rebuilt. There is evidence that there has been a church there since the 500s backed up by coins found dating from C4 - C6.
The construction down the left of the shot is a series of pews for the gentry they appear to have no advantages being merely for show. The shot is noisy as surprise surprise there is no electricity. That thought hadn't crossed my mind until we got there, I really should have taken the tripod.
