Fairhaven Fun
Our usual routine after our Friday afternoon Gentle Yoga II class is to pick up the books on hold for us at the Fairhaven branch of Bellingham Public Library and head for home, but we deviated from that today, and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
We both had a couple of quick errands to do in Fairhaven, and then we rendezvoused at Tony's Coffee House, where we lucked into window seats that look out onto Harris Avenue. (Check out my view of the window in both directions in the extra photos...)
And yes, we looked at our phones for part of our time there, and I pointed out to Phil a happy hour special list from Old World Deli in downtown Bellingham, which included house-smoked duck breast, which he loves -- so instead of going home, we headed into town.
I had warm lentil and arugula salad with chorizo, which was delicious and something I'm going to try making at home, and we split a piece of carrot cake made at Old World Deli, far better than the overly-sweet concoctions with that name that are often presented. The Prozac Mountain Boys, a superb bluegrass group, were playing and we were delighted with the whole experience.
Walking back to the car, we noticed a new business that offered both beer and wine in a capacious setting -- Depot Barrels and Blending. It's been open only a couple of days, but was buzzing with folks (mostly much younger than us) having a good time. We found a quiet corner and relished glasses of a delicious local sour beer, and look forward to returning.
What a great way to start a new month!
