Must-Sees

For a city of about 88,000 residents, we are blessed with not only a superb symphony orchestra, an excellent public university, a stunning 1500-seat performing arts venue, but also an amazing museum, housed in two very different buildings.

Running at the same time as  the "Jeweled Objects of Desire" exhibit is one that appeals to me even more: "Rooted, Revived, Reinvented: Basketry in America," which "chronicles a history of American basketry from its origins in Native American, immigrant, and slave communities to its presence within the contemporary fine art world."

You can read more about it here, along with information on two more basket-related shows at the museum's Old City Hall building. Both the Old City Hall and the Lightcatcher buildings are open Wednesday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m., if you happen to be in the neighborhood...
