Yorkshire Arboretum

After Pilates we needed some shopping in York. To avoid leaving Jet for too long we brought him along planning to give him a walk on the way home. We decided to call in at the Yorkshire Arboretum near Castle Howard.

It had just opened after a winter break. It was earlier than usual due to the presence of Hawfinches. Not sure if we saw any as there were a lot of small birds flitting about and I don’t possess any binoculars.

Part of the Arboretum is where dogs are allowed off the lead but under control. Jet enjoyed the freedom to roam. The ground was rather wet in places but heading up on the slopes helped. I particularly liked the bark of this aptly named Paper Bark Maple.
