Rough Island

We decided to go out to Rabbit Island this morning. Stopped and had a coffee at Mapua, the wharf was damaged in the storm and engineers were out assessing the damage. The ferry over to the other side was not running as the landing slip had been washed away.
After crossing the bridge we found we could go no further - the road was closed - flooding and washed away (see extra of road). The estuary looked lovely with lots of bird life.
