Sussex Cattle

There is now a long line of late blips as we have been away and out of touch with Blipfoto!

Yesterday T, K, J, N and I drove up to Sussex in T's truck to stay with T's college mate Charlie on his farm and B&B. When we arrived we found Charlie had broken his wrist badly about an hour before trying to tidy the yard. He had fallen awkwardly off a huge waste bag. They dishcharged him from hospital at three in the morning and he was here to greet us this morning before N and I travelled to Gatwick. But this was not without rounding up some of his rare breed Sussex cattle first!

These animals are descended from the oxen which used to work the arable land in the Weald of Sussex and Kent and are a good beef animal. They are placid and settle well in hot countries or cold, having thin coats in the summer and thick coats in the winter and are found in small numbers in areas all over the world.
