Senior Moments and Memories
The recipe was for spiced squash and apple soup, but there’s always the tendency to add what is lying at the foot of the fridge, and today it was this red pepper and some carrot batons.
The spices are chilli flakes and cinnamon, but in a senior moment, in went half a teaspoonful of chilli powder instead of the cinnamon. I managed to remove some of it , but I think the soup will be very spicy indeed. Perhaps I should serve it with yogurt.
It has been made for the intended Wednesday lunchtime visit of a member of Aberdeen Museum who is travelling down to record His Lordship’s reminiscences of his years as a Gordon Highlander on National Service fighting the communists in the Malayan jungle during the uprisings there in the 50s.
I hope the soup is not so hot and fiery that it renders them both speechless.
