Captain George Vancouver...
....obviously, being a sea captain, was well used to being out in all weather and wasn't deterred by strong winds and heavy rain. But we gave in and gave up on our Hanseatic self-guided tour of Kings Lynn and took to the car for a coastal drive to Cromer via Hunstanton.
Only we didn't get as far as Cromer because this morning while visiting the Corn Exchange which is now a theatre, we bought tickets for a show..Let's Twist Again, with music from the 50s and 60s, so had to make sure we got back to base in time. Time that is, for a warm up shower and change of clothes before heading back to the Corn Exchange for the show....which was brilliant.
We did stop at Titchwell Marsh, an RSPB reserve, on our coastal drive and had it not been getting near to dusk and us being cold and wet, we might have been tempted to watch the Marsh Harriers roosting over the reed beds. One of us more tempted than the other though...
Captain Vancouver stands in front of the Custom House overlooking the River Great Ouse. His voyages took him most famously to Canada, where he founded the town which now bears his name!
Tomorrow promises to be dry.....
