New Toy
Today my Xmas pressy arrived. It was supposed to arrive just after Xmas day, but it never turned up, so we had our money back and this is different one. To be precise the pressy is at extra – the extension bellows that is, not the macro of the eraser. The blip is the edge of a two pound coin (not cropped – the photo that is not the coin, which was I suppose . . .).
Well you have to play, don’t you? A day of experimentation showed that the best set up was our old Tamron 70-300 with bug broken electrics in normal mode (not macro) on Mrs W’s boom for ease of fine focus (but not stability!).
The bellows does not have any electronic connection with the camera so getting the exposure right is trial and error. Bellows with connectivity cost a small fortune! The only things correct in the exif are the shutter speed and the ISO, the rest the camera has taken a guess at.
We also took delivery of a set of close-up lenses, of which the +4 on my workhorse Tamron 18-270 is possibly going to be the most useful. The ‘other’ extra is a close-up of the erasure using the +10 close-up lens on the 18-270, but it was a bit hard going as the DoF is so shallow that either side of the centre point is loosing focus. I started the day experimenting shooting the erasure, but being translucent it was perhaps not the best of subjects . . .
I dedicate the shot of the erasure to Silly Saturday – thanks to Admirer for hosting.
