Cologne

After picking John up at five this morning we headed to Manchester Airport for our flight to Cologne.Train from the airport to the city centre and the underground to the hotel only realising afterward that it is quicker to walk than use the underground.
An afternoon around the city centre started with a walk up to the top of the Cathedral the view from the top seen in the extras along with Helen making her way up the last of the steps and a shot of the Cathedral itself. The climb to the top is over 500 steps and well worth it for the views.
The interior of the cathedral itself is magnificent taking over six hundred years to finally complete and contains relics of the Three Wise Men who visited Jesus after his birth. It is a very special place.
After such a climb coffee and cake was desperately needed and where better than Cafe Reicard.Wonderful cake in stunning surroundings. While Helen was taking a photograph of it an old lady came up to us and told us to go in and not just photograph it because it is the best of Cologne.

We walked along the Rhine back to the hotel amazed at how high the river was and how fast flowing

An early night ready for the IPM show in Essen tomorrow.
