Spires in silhouette
St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh, at midday today, a dark silhouette on a sunny day. Traffic swirls round the peaceful garden round the building, but the cathedral sits calm above their ant-like hurry.
We walked from Ravelston to Valvona and Crolla in Elm Row for lunch, and for all that it’s a picturesque route of gardens, galleries and magnificent buildings I was struck by two things.
The pollution caused by the stream of traffic gives me a cough. And the hard pavements make for tiring walking.
Guess I’ll just have to stay in the sticks ...
