Great Grey Shrike

We decided to go to 'El Clot' at Gran Alicant today, as there has been a lot of clearance work done on the Nature Reserve by the hides, and there have been a lot of unusual birds spotted.
However, there was some sort of wildlife event going on, with loads of families and even more kids running round - all being really noisy but having a great time.
Not surprisingly, most of the birds were keeping a low profile but we spotted this Shrike on a bush in the distance. Another name for them is the 'Butcher Bird' as they have a nasty habit of picking up small lizards etc and spiking them on thorns to kill them..
