White Saddle

...or Helvella crispa. Spent qute a lot of today driving up to the North-East. It's been a few years since we came up here, and I'm wondering why we left it so long to revisit - it's a magical area. The weather has been pretty mixed on the way up. Everything from sunshine to heavy rain via rainbows. We stopped off at Wallington for an hour or two, which was very pleasant. The house was closed today so we had a walk through some of the woodlands, where there were lots of fine fungi including this fine specimen, to a lovely hide with well-stocked feeders.
