Builder Trouble

After a lovely day at a conference at Ditchley Park, which was quite gorgeous in the autumn light, I returned to find the builders had a problem. Stripping out the chimney had exposed problems with the brickwork for the kitchen wall - it was only one thin layer of bricks in depth. So they'll have to build an extra wall to insulate it. Oh dear, never fiddle with old houses, you'll only unearth trouble, and expensive trouble at that!

All I need now is for it to start raining..... here's a close up of scaffolding, as I didn't get a chance to take a lovely scenic picture at the conference, even though they had wellies and warm socks lined up for anyone who fancied a walk in the grounds - nice touch.
