Cracking on

After yesterday's sunny climes it was an icy climb today over the Consuma at 3,000ft. Rain had filled culverts which had spilled and frozen in treacherous patches. I took the slow winding road down though Caiano to avoid traffic and have time to concentrate on the icy bits. Apparently it was -4C at 8am on site.

I missed two days at the house due to rain and dental work and the buys have been cracking on. Two sides of the house stripped of the smeared on mortar. The gaps were then sprayed out to create a deep bed for the new stuff.

By the end of the day it was starting to go in but high up on the scaffold under a shelter the builders' have built to keep themselves dry.

I worked on stripping a high fence on a retaining wall of its bamboo matting and ivy. It seemed fairly innocuous but turned into a bit of a slog as the ivy got to forearm thick branches grown around the wire fencing.

We said our goodbyes as the darnkess fell. They are such hard workers and will not take a builders tea from me.

A wet drive back and then heavy fog on the run into Fiesole. I stopped at Vino da Mino in Le Sieci where he made me up a 5L wine box of his Morellino di Scansano for €20. It is really very good and always nice to do business with him.
