Day Three
Well, here's the rub - my halo has slipped over my eyes today! My heavenly fleece bedding was indeed hard to leave this morning and, it has to be said, somewhat too warm even with a mere 4.5 tog duvet.
The trouble was all my exertions of yesterday...with the final nail in the coffin being the hour long gym session last night. I know I should know better, but I was so excited to be at home, that I tried to do so much...but I really need to remember that I no longer need to fit everything into just one day and (I hate to say this) be mindful of my age!
On top of that, I am still suffering with grotty headaches as a result of my venture into a ladies-of-a-certain-age-beginner-yoga class last Wednesday night. Ridiculously, I did the shoulder stand pose (Sarvangasana) when I am frankly old enough to know better. Looking it up on Thursday when I felt a bit "wrong", I realised that the Sarvangasana and Halasana (plough pose) are the two that should NOT be attempted by anyone who has had back/neck injuries or whiplash. Well, guess what, this was exactly what I had in a nasty car crash in 1982...and I still have to be careful. Even to this day, I cannot go in those backward basin things when having my hair washed at the hairdresser, nor go in old cars without head restraints. And the reason I'm sure my neck/top of back is out of kilter is the metallic taste in my mouth. Sorry for the tale of woe.
As it turned out, my line dancing class was cancelled today due to the ill health of the teacher and I chose not to attend the yoga tonight...at least until I feel a bit better (or my back and neck are straighter?).
The only exercise I took today was a gentle stroll around Guildford, to visit the bank, return a faulty item to a store and pick up some Easiyo. The excitement of the day was when I found a pack of long tea spoons with a great hammered design in Poundland...to go with the posh latte glasses The Boy gave me for Christmas. Simple pleasures, eh?
Anyhow, this shot is of Guildford High Street nearing 5pm as the light was fading. As you can see, it was blissfully quiet to go around town at that time and nothing like the usual manic lunchtime dash that I usually had to endure.
Highlight of the day was that I had the time to make homemade apple crumble.
Thought for the day:
