Not the Northern Lights

Oh no. Self-evidently not. Not a sniff here yet. But some quite nice pre dawn light at around 9am this morning. Yep, you read that correctly. Sunrise is around 10.30 and sunset is 14.30. Short days indeed. But we haven't actually seen the sun, and there is little chance of this over the next few days which are set to be cloudy. We have planned our adventures taking this into account.

It was bitterly cold this morning, around -15 C, plus a windchill factor (although not that great). Even so, all bundled up, we managed to walk along the river to one bridge, over it, and back along the other side completing our walk by coming back over the bridge that is pictured here.

In and amongst there was some good coffee, some superb reindeer quiche and some excellent cakes. In fact, I couldn't resist another one of these. One thing we have ascertained already is that the portions in Lapland are rather large so we need to order accordingly.

Trying desperately to stay awake for longer this evening, as my sleeping patterns are absolutely shocking still. Was wide awake at 2am again today. That really is a receipe for weariness and a generally lassitude (and indeed sore knees, which also aren't helped by the cold).
