Closing

Sad news today that local organic shop Earthy was closing. Apparently the staff had just three days notice that the company - two shops since the closure of the Canonmills branch after an unsuccessful fight against a new development on the site - was being wound up. Another loss to the local community here in Portobello. These sorts of shops give a sense of place and as they go, to be replaced by the large chains, places become less and less distinctive.
