A dangerous age

When a man starts keeping screws and nails in old jars you know he has reached a Gerontion point in his life; small acts of thrift and obsessive organisation take over. And sleeping.

Thou hast nor youth nor age
But as it were an after dinner sleep
Dreaming of both.

This morning I felt awesome and tonight we danced in the kitchen, practising salsa steps. In between, there was the small matter of the day job, which is horribly busy right now. And complicated. And draining.

Watched the last episode of season 1 of The Crown which dealt with Churchill’s departure from office. Brilliant series. John Lithgow is terrific as Churchill.

I wonder if he kept screws in a jar down at Chartwell ...
