Today was/is ridiculously hot. Temperatures hit 37. A brief storm brought them down a couple of degrees, but only briefly. Had to go into Civic to pick up a lens hood I had ordered, so decided to take advantage of being out and about to go the National Gallery of Australia and the National Portrait Gallery. The Portrait Gallery has a fabulous exhibition on at the moment for lovers of movies - Wonderful portraits telling the stories of Australian film. The exhibition is augmented by some costumes including the 'thong dress' and the 'green and silver dress' from Priscilla Queen of the Desert. One of the dresses worn by Judy Davis in My Brilliant Career is also on display. Now I'm back home using my own air-conditioning and wondering if I need to sleep in my living room tonight because of the heat.
