Carols by the piano
Saturday
I can’t believe I don’t have a photograph to record yesterday, which was when Laura arrived from Kuwait - first time we’d seen her in almost a year - but when we were waiting for her to appear at the airport, I was just focusing on looking out for her and waiting to give her a big hug, and unfortunately not thinking about getting a blip!
One of the most urgent things for Laura to do was to buy herself a new winter coat, as her old one had been almost falling apart when she left Romania, and she decided it wasn’t worth taking it with her - and of course in Kuwait she hasn’t needed a winter coat! She wanted me to go with her for a second opinion, so I suggested we got out early this morning - not relishing the thought of shopping the last Saturday before Christmas. We were planning to go to Macy’s at Kenwood Mall, and I happened to know from overhearing a conversation that they were opening at 7.30! We didn’t manage 7.30, but we were there for 8 am., and it was wonderful - the roads were practically empty and so was the store! We managed to get her a winter coat and a new lighter weight coat for Kuwait, and get back home just after 10 am! Laura was off out much of the rest of the day with one of her university friends who still lives in the Cincinnati area - they were going up to their university, Miami University in Oxford Ohio for a wander round and visit a few of their old haunts. It was raining as they drove up there, but it turned to a fine snow by the time they got there!
My Blip was taken (by Roger) later in the day when she was back home, and we were singing carols at the piano. In the evening, she was catching up with some other friends while we drove down to the airport again - this time to pick Jen and Jason up, flying in from Utah!
