The Light on the Ocean

A cold but refreshing walk at Emsworth this afternoon.  The light was subdued but beautiful in the sky and on the sea.  It was surprisingly busy out - lots of people walking, cycling, and dogs running along. At the far end of the harbour I could see a sailing race taking place.  There were around 20 boats of hardy souls.  Back on the land, I could see people busy in the sailing club preparing hot food and drink for them.

There were still some flood defences in place from the storm surge that happened a few nights ago.  One street without them had clearly been flooded and there was seaweed piled as high as my knees at the sides of the road.

I love walks like this on cold winter afternoons - wandering with no agenda other than to look and see and discover interesting and lovely things which you would otherwise have missed.

In other news, we had our new sofas delivered first thing this morning so we were up bright and breezy.  We've also made two lots of soup from the left over Christmas/New Year vegetables and I ventured to Havant to visit a wool shop to purchase some yarn for my next knitting venture!
