Ernest Shackleton

Currently reading about Ernest Shackleton and it's a fascinating book. Seems as though he had no interest in anything much other than going away to sea which his father arranged with a cousin in the shipping business to take him on in the role of 'boy', in the hope that it would get the notion out of his system.

He really did seem born with a plan somewhere within that needed to be fulfilled.
Prior to going to sea he hardly did well at school. Afterwards he was close to the top of the class. He had found his motivation and his destiny.

My own news is that the carer's agency called to say they want to come to change mum at 7am tomorrow as a one-off. I phoned back to say that's too early but they weren't answering their phone. So I left a message to say they can miss calling in the morning and I'll see to her myself at a better time of the morning.

I'll tell tonight's carers too because I don't want to be woken at 7am in the morning never mind my mum, getting rolled around and washed while she's still half asleep.

I actually changed the bed today by hoisting her so I know I can do it and it would only take a few minutes. 

I need my sleep and I don't think it's good that we both get woken early on a Sunday morning because they've got staffing problems.

I have a feeling there was another recent one-off request to call early. Can't remember what happened about that one. A second one-off is taking the you know what.
I'm fairly amenable so they probably think they won't get any trouble from me and I'll just go along with it. I like to be helpful in difficult situations but I can't lose my valuable sleep to make life easier for them.
