A Silkie Chicken
After enjoying coffee at the Inglston Equestrian Centre and watching several young riders having jumping lessons L and I headed down the Firth of Clyde to Lunderston Bay where we enjoyed a walk along part of the Inverclyde Coastal Path.
Then it was time for a spot of lunch in the Cardwell Garden Centre which was just across the road. Not much in the way of plants but we did discover a pet corner .... mostly rabbits and guinea pigs but there was an enclosure with three Silkie Chickens. A Google search helped me to identify them.
According to Wikipedia the Silkie is a breed of chicken named for its atypically fluffy plumage which is said to feel like silk. The chickens have black skin and blue earlobes. With a very calm temperament the Silkies are very easy to keep as pets. Think I still prefer dogs.
