Faith...

...Es doesn’t seem to have a lot in the eldest son while he attempts to open the fizzy Elderberry (non-alcoholic).

A bit of a faux pas had not long been made when MrR opened a bottle of fizz for them and started dishing it out...only for me to notice a few glasses poured that it was the Strawberry fizz (alcoholic). The big boys were allowed to retain their glasses...we retrieved the glass from the wee boy.

Es wasn’t so much into Strawberry Fizz at Ne’er Day dinner...I think the few glasses she had at the bells were enough!

Saw the bells in at Chartershall with good friends...walked over just before and then wandered back home in the wee small hours after a fun fuelled few hours.

Long lie...wee bit of brunch...break in the rain to allow us all out for a Ne’er Day walk...then MrR and I hit the kitchen.

I like to cook a bit on Ne’er Day...try for Scottish dishes and produce where I can. So we cooked up:

Vegetarian haggis and goats cheese filo parcels, served on wilted spinach with beetroot purée and avocado smash.

Vegetarian and gluten free steak pie with roast potatoes, sweet potatoes & parsnip with carrots, cauliflower & broccoli.

Cranachan

Selection of Arran Cheeses

Our drinks were from the Cairn O Mhor winery in Perthshire...the Strawberry Fizz!, the Elderberry Fizz and a nice Elderberry Red wine...mmmm.

After making and eating that we collapsed in front of Skyfall with a mug of tea and the After Eights.

All in all a grand first day of the New Year...for which I am grateful.
