Character

The village church with its avenue of ancient yew trees.  They were apparently planted in the 1500s.  I particularly like the gnarled trunks which have no doubt developed as the trees have aged and which give each a unique character. I almost expect to walk up to one of the hollows and find a little present in it!  I think there was a children's story about a hollow in a tree where someone kept leaving little gifts but I can't recall the title or author.

The wind has subsided and the sun appeared.  The ground is water-logged and the streams running high but its wonderful to have more light.

A day of getting more chores completed before I return to work.
