Walk New Zealand Te Araroa Trail

These folk (rusty as they are) stand on the edge of entry into Wellingtons Botanical Gardens where we walked today and also enjoyed lemon and sugar crepes at the very good cafe.

Its been a beautiful day tarnished a bit by news of a major fire on the hills behind Wanaka and our side of town. we now have a huge black scar on the hills that luckily didn’t make it into town thanks to 6 helicopters with monsoon buckets for 6 hours. 
I think I am glad I was not there to watch this play out.
