Clickety Click
What do clickychick, clickety click, 66, coffee cake, A66, cup of coffee and candle (shame it's in the jar and not lit) have in common?
On this day in the past we used to go for lunch to the Kirkstone Pass Inn for lunch, then The Daughters came along. When they left home we tried to reinstate this but by then we had The Mother with us. On the first such outing she felt so sick on the journey up Kirkstone Pass, she couldn't eat her lunch.
Subsequent January 2nds, were spent in Lakeland Limited, Windermere, via the low level route! That was the Mother's favourite shop and the restaurant was excellent. This year I was just about fancying going to The Kirkstone Pass Inn and getting a wonderful blip from the car park but, I'm just not well enough to enjoy it. (Day 17 of cold).
Instead we just went a couple of miles to Cocklakes Farm Shop on the A66 for coffee and cakes. The good thing about this trip out was chatting with Hazelina. I wasn't in the mood for the strong Americano they served me because the latte machine was out of use and my appetite didn't cope well with the generous serving of coffee cake. Nevertheless, a favourite place of ours.
Much of the day was spent napping, but tonight I'm enjoying a nice whisky. I hope to do a bit better tomorrow. A funeral in Kendal then lunch in Beetham and a main meal somewhere nice!
