Great Egret

This photo was taken at The Wolseley Centre in Staffordshire, and this visiting Great Egret is getting a lot of attention. Apparently they don’t often come so far north. And we have a Little Egret as well.

Paparazzi, equipped with long lenses and tripods were to be seen, but one or two of them seemed not to understand much about wildlife. Charging at a bird to get a closer shot does tend to result in the creature taking flight!

We were only open for a few hours today but they were well appreciated. The Bank Voles were out to play and the Water Rail put in an appearance close by.
