Penduline Tit
Cute, small and to me amusing with their little 'Zorro' masks. Exceptionally well camouflaged with beautiful colouring, I do have rather a soft spot for them especially so as they are rare and vagrant birds.
I was surprised to see this particular bird is ringed and on delving discovered that it was ringed on Alderney in the Channel Islands on the 28th of October this year. He has been in Gloucester since December 16th and I found him this afternoon skulking on the Greater Reedmace with a stonechat then disappearing for long periods into the hedgerow in the distance.
With my feet getting damp and chilly standing in the flooded field I called it a day when my ISO started to rocket. Didn't feel at all guilty having a mince pie with my cuppa on getting home.
