Christmas Eve

There's a saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks", but I prefer "you're never too old to learn" and today I learnt how to make water lilies from napkins. That'll do for the Christmas day table.

Emma and Andy are here, and Tom has made an appearance, so it's going to be a nice family gathering. I started preparing for tomorrow's lunch this morning by cooking a butternut squash and chickpea roast. That's one less thing to prepare.

Ann and I went to Nero this afternoon for a coffee, unfortunately they are closed tomorrow, very selfish, but open again Boxing Day.

Now ensconced by a log fire, warm mince pies and background TV - let the holidays begin!
