The Last Jedi

I rarely use the Blip website, mostly it's the app for me. But when I do I always visit the 'one year ago today' feature. It tells me that I've been to the cinema during this pre Christmas week ever since I began blip.
Largely that will be due to a love of the movies, but this week especially it will be because of the rebirth of Star Wars, something Disney have done so very very well. To take the Galaxy Far Far Away and to both nurture the love generations have for it and yet make it a place of wonder for new viewers has been a process they have handled superbly, along with, of course, keeping it hugely commercially successful.
As a wise Jedi once said "the true test of the master is to watch the student grow beyond" , to surpass. Star Wars is now so much more than that first vision. Like (I imagine) a large family there are in jokes, repeating themes, nods to the past, but slowly new characters become central to the plot, beliefs change, the story evolves.

I've taken a day and night to digest The Last Jedi and first impressions are its the finest (main sequence) film since Empire, I think it will be seen by fans as a modern classic, I'll certainly be going to see it on the big screen again.
