Verreaux's Sifaka
Madagascar Day 7
Today was the earliest start so far, leaving the hotel at 5am! We drove to a nature reserve on route to our next destination. We saw a Hubbards Sportive Lemur, which was part of the reason for the early start as they disappear into a hole early in the morning.
Then after yesterday's disappointment we were spoilt for seeing the Verreaux's Sifaka sitings, first this mother and daughter and then a tree of eight!
We had lunch at an aboretum, tasty fish kebabs. We had a walk round after lunch and saw the sweetest lemur so far, a Reddish-grey Mouse Lemur and a Nightjar.
We continued our journey to the south east coast, a long hot journey to Ifaty where we stayed at a hotel which on the first night was Mosi hell! At least we arrived in time to see the sunset over the sea.
There were also no power outlets in the room, which was not convienient for drying your hair. Had to laugh on the way to dinner as I saw a generator on the go, passed the restaurant toilet window to see one of our group drying her hair powered by the generator!
On the way back to the 'mosi' room (after a couple of rums) we saw loads of hermit crabs, so sweet! Glad I had those rums as I had somehow managed to trap a mosi inside the mosi net and spent the night half sleeping with that high pitched whining mosi sound in my ear throughout the night!
